As I was reading scripture the other morning my reading lead me to 1 John 3:13-17.
"Do not be surprised if the world hates you. We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. Everyone who hate his brother is a murder and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?"
None of this is profound, I think. However, it was definitely something to think about and consider. How many times have I said I hate someone. How many times would that make me a murderer. We ought to lay down our lives for our brethren...Surely something we (I) need to spend more time considering and praying through.
But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? How many times have I been guilty of this, especially were annoyed by someone.

I started working with an older guy named Bob who has been serving in the military for a long time. I was thinking about the Scripture in 1 John 3 (Not knowing it was in 1 John 3 though) when Bob told me about men he has known who have received the medal of honor. It's the greatest medal in the military, and the people Bob told me about had put their lives on the line to save many others. I told him that I just don't know what I would do in that kind of case. It's easier for me to walk away from situations to lay my own life down because I feel that people won't even care if I did it. But Christ's way tells me different. Cool blog Jamie, thanks for getting me thinking.
Jamie-
I think it would allow others to join with you by serving through giving if you would post some of your personal needs/general MS needs that people who read your blog could meet.
